The Blessing of the Blessing

The Blessing of the Blessing
Genesis 12
1 Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: 2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: 3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
The Principle of the Blessing
The First chapter in the book of Genesis, we find the principle of blessing and for the next 66 books.... blessing is a message that takes us to the book of Revelation and even in this last chapter... it is full of unspeakable and imaginable blessing.
508 times the word bless is mentioned in the scripture.
God Blesses his creation. God Blesses his Children.
Hebrews 7:6 But he whose descent is not counted from them received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises. 7 And without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better.
The Bible Demonstrates that God has the ability to bless men and women. God has the ability... yeah desire to bless boys and girls.
Matthew 19:13 Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them. 14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven. 15 And he laid his hands on them, and departed thence.
Today I am going to talk to you about a dimension of humanity that makes us most like God.
The Blessing of the Blessing
God gave us the ability to bless others.
God Bless You.... and I Bless You!
We see it demonstrated when Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau.
We see it demonstrated again when Jacob blessed his twelve sons that would become the twelve tribes of Israel.
We see the story of Jacob striving for the blessing of his Father.
There is something inside of all of us... a desire to be blessed by our father. Granted due to various things, often people may never hear the words of affirmation they long to hear.
There is inside of all of a desire to have the blessing.
Striving for the Blessing.
Jacob strived for the blessing.
He strived for the birthright.
He strived for the blessing.
He strived for a wife.
He strived for a living.
He strived for favor.
But there came a day when his striving was no more.
He finally stopped striving with man... and began to strive for the ultimate blessing.
He began to strive with the Ultimate Blesser.
I am sorry some of you have not heard what you wanted to hear from others.
But today....
as a Father in the Gospel....
As a Preacher of the Gospel....
as a Pastor of this Church...
Before you leave today..... I am going to Pronounce a Blessing upon your life.
However.... let me tell you... that the blessing must not stop with you.
That blessing needs to become a flow of blessing.
Blessing your home.
Blessing your Job.
Blessing Your Neighbors.
Blessing your Coworkers.
Blessing your Family.
Blessing your Children.
Blessing Your Enemies.
Blessing Your Troubles.
Blessing Your Bodies.
Blessing the areas of Brokeness.
This unction of spiritual flow that begins with a blessing.... and ends with a blessing.
The blessing can’t stay ... can’t stop... can’t sit still.
Blessing... begats blessing....
Like water in the banks of a river... when it passes by you... it is not gone... but the river just keeps flowing... water from another place... provision from a far... even if it has not rained where you are... the river is still flowing... because it is raining somewhere.
If you can just get connected to the flow of blessing... you will be blessed... and you will be a blessing.
The Promise of Abraham was summed up with this....
Many of us can relate to the personal struggle of striving for the blessing of God in our lives.
However I do believe that we will never truly appreciate the blessings of God, until we learn how to bless others.
There is a principle of flow involved in the spiritual dynamic of “The Blessing” that the only way you can receive some things is that you are able to pass them on.
The Blessing of Abraham was passed down to Issaac.
The Blessing was passed down from Isaac to Jacob.
Jacob furthered that blessing one step forward upon the generations that followed.
It is one thing to pray for our children. It is one thing to try to help our children...
But Blessing has a Spiritual Dynamic that when imparted .... it is more than giving some tangible thing... but it is access to a spiritual inheritance.
The Blessing does not give you a car.... but it gives you a set of Keys.
I believe we see the principle of Blessing is demonstrated in the Revelation of Jesus that precipitated the Blessing of Peter.
Matthew 16:13
13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? 14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. 15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? 16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. 17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. 18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Petera, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. 19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
.....
That we might comprehend the desperate need of those around us that need us to pass on the blessing.
